Maybe you record podcast episodes maybe you record videos maybe you record both and you want a tool that’ll make your life a thousand percent easier well I found it for you and I’m going to share it with you today as a podcaster and somebody who’s been doing video for over a decade now you know I’ve used a whole array of different tools to help me along the way everything from garage band to iMovie and leveling up to a lot of the adobe stuff.

Descript:
But I found something that’s going to help you that I’ve been using that I want to share with you and it’s called descript I’ve become a big fan of descript I’m an affiliate for this script you can become an affiliate too and I want to show you some of the benefits of using it and why it’s going to save you a ton of time for your production a lot of people think descript is just a transcription tool but it’s actually so much more you can actually use it to record your podcast and record your videos including screen recordings pretty much an all-in-one and the transcriptions are just a huge bonus too.
let me show you around all right so I’m going to create a new project here I have a few test ones that I’ve done already but I’m going to create a project and I’m going to call it test podcast I’m going to drag and drop a sample podcast I already recorded for you here it’s like 30 seconds it’s gonna take just a minute and as you can see it’s already here let’s press play and see what it sounds like hello this is pat Flynn and welcome to episode 107 of the smart passive income podcast very cool.
Practical Example:
Now the cool thing is I can click a button to automatically transcribe this yes I don’t have to send it off to anybody this is an AI based machine situation happening to actually figure out what words you’re saying and actually type them out it is pretty darn good you know it’s not going to be 100 perfect none of the robotic ones are but it’s way cheaper than hiring somebody I mean we used to pay 30 to 60 per episode to have a human actually transcribe these things and even then they wouldn’t get them perfect but here they get it almost right.

Okay so as you can see I made a mistake there but check this out instead of having to go into the editor here and kind of like figuring out okay where is that actually so I can remove it and all that stuff you know you can find a range here like this and go okay I want to take this part out and do that or you can go into the text area.

Here today we are going to cover all the things you need to know about editing for your podcast and your videos too thanks for watching bye okay so a lot of pause there which I want to remove and of course those aren’t words here it’s just pause so what I can do is zoom out a little bit and I’m going to select the range between the pauses I’m going to delete those thanks for boom and let’s go back to here and press play and your videos too thanks for watching bye what that is absolutely insane a revolutionary way in fact to edit videos and podcasts as well.
Now like I said this could actually do screen recording for you as well now let’s say I wanted to record myself going through the analytics of my YouTube channel to do that in descript I can go to the d up here and I can go to okay I gotta see that how it just popped up right here in the bottom left-hand corner uh I can change the camera I can actually just record my camera if I wanted to right just whatever webcam you’re using uh you can record the same audio as the system I’m going to record through my road caster pro computer audio is enabled transcription is enabled I’m going to start screen recording and see what happens drag the part of the screen.
Point No 5:
I want to record okay I’m going to record this part right here and hit start recording that’s super easy to do and guess what we’re recording right now and now I can go through all of this like I would I’m going to go to analytics as you can see we’re doing pretty good on the channel a little bit of growth haven’t had a video for a while but that’s going to change I can also go to the reach and show you there anyway that’s that so.

Now if I want to stop I can either click the x down here at the bottom or I’m going to go to the upper part and hit ok it’s transcribing I’m going to edit in descript and look at that actually the transcription is already there which is pretty amazing but let’s go to descript to edit it there and here we are let’s go full screen and let’s actually play for the beginning and see we’ll see what happens to do and guess what we’re recording right now and now I can go through all of this like I would I’m going to go to analytics pretty crazy I can do the same thing to edit let’s say I don’t want to say that’s that so let me take that part out there.
Conclusion:
We go and it just splices everything together like how ridiculous is that this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen I’m going to be using it I recommend you try using it too. If you’re somebody who has an audience of podcasters and videographers I highly recommend you join their affiliate program as well it’s actually quite generous and of course as you can see this is a great tool that can make it so much easier for anybody to create and edit so that we can get more stuff done.
